Health Insurance Marketplace in Maryland

If you live in Maryland, the Maryland Health Connection is the Health Insurance Marketplace to serve you.  Instead of HealthCare.gov, you’ll use the Maryland Health Connection website to apply for coverage, compare plans, and enroll.  You can apply as early as October 1, 2013.  Visit the Maryland Health Connection now to learn more.

Beginning Oct 1, the Health Insurance Marketplace will make it easy for Marylanders to compare qualified health plans, get answers to questions, find out if they are eligible for lower costs for private insurance or health programs like Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and enroll in health coverage.

By the Numbers: Uninsured Marylanders who are eligible for coverage through the Marketplace. 

• 480,528 (10%) are uninsured and eligible
• 338,423 (70%) have a full-time worker in the family
• 193,823 (40%) are 19-34 years old
• 200,565 (42%) are White
• 183,102 (38%) are African American
• 56,628 (12%) are Latino/Hispanic
• 25,756 (5%) are Asian American or Pacific Islander
• 276,863 (58%) are male

420,217 (87%) of Maryland’s uninsured and eligible population may qualify for lower costs on coverage in the Marketplace, including through Medicaid.
